Like blood

September 2, 2016 in 50/50 First Cycle

We, have blood

And we, are like blood

Blood is supposed to carry glucose, with no fail

Yet, we’re never able to be sweet at the right time

Blood is supposed to remove crap from our bodies

Yet, the crap remains within

The very substance that can set us free

Dripping from the soul into the heart

We are lying awake

Our bodies, floating down this blood-red stream

It all smells familiar and strange at the same time

It is red, but without angst

It is warm, but without love

We’re free, because of you

And shackled, because of you

So, they say we have freedom of speech
And anybody can say anything
Yet, we suppress the voices of those we disagree with

So, they say we have equality
And nobody will be discriminated
Yet, we oppress those who with even the slightest difference from us

So, they say we have peace
And everybody will be safe
Yet, we are at rest when others have been unjustly put to rest

So, that’s why they say opposites attract
And we speak in opposites
Because we say and do one thing,
Yet, we mean another

Bukanlah perkara yang mudah
Dan bukan untuk diambil mudah
Tetapi sentiasa berlalu sudah
Hingga kita akhirnya rebah

Yang lepas
Yang dah lalu
Ada yang kita hendakkan terus berlalu
Dan ada yang kita hendakkan selalu
Kadang-kadang kita terlepas
Sampaikan kita rasa pilu

Tetapi bukan semuanya malang

The Same Sky

May 8, 2016 in Poetry/Puisi

Every day we wake up
No matter what we do or where we are
We stare at the same sky
We’re reminded of why we’re still alive
And we’re reminded of how far we’ve come in life

Nobody said life was meant to be easy
But everything happens for a reason
Nothing lasts forever
Even the clouds don’t stay in the same place twice
And slowly fading
Either into another territory
Or they dissipate
And shower us with rain

Yet, the sky stays the same
And we stare at the same sky
Is our heart like the sky or like the clouds?

Or is the heart beyond the sky and clouds?

What I feel, at least
Is that the heart can be as vast as the sky, and only sometimes will the clouds be dark and gloomy

But it doesn’t always have to be dark and gloomy
Because there’s finally sunshine
And still, we stare at the same sky.

being a guy

May 8, 2016 in Poetry/Puisi

it isn’t easy
being a guy

the girls have their own ministry
and activists fighting for their rights
the most we get are toilets for our gender

the girls get maternity leave
and get to be with their newborns
all we get is our names as part of our children’s names

it’s funny
being a guy

one guy messes around with a girl
and our entire kind gets the blame

one guy does something dumb
and our entire kind gets the shame

it sucks
because when we do something right
people will just shrug and say
“you’re just a guy”
