Detachment

I think, whenever someone significant or someone you care about, a piece of you goes with them too. A favourite song, a favourite colour, a favourite past time, a favourite sweatshirt, a favourite anything. And when they’re gone, you’re left with these pieces of you that don’t necessarily match and you have to work with those pieces. You have to put yourself together with these pieces that don’t match and you’ll never be the same anymore. You don’t work the same anymore, you don’t believe in things the same way anymore. No, you’re not giving up on the things you used to love, you used to believe, you just don’t see them the same anymore. You just don’t say that much hellos because you are scared of the goodbyes.

I talk a lot, like a lot.
